Jaipur, Rajasthan – January 20, 2020 – In a landmark collaboration advancing sustainable development across Africa, His Excellency Prof. James Wani Igga, Vice President of South Sudan for the Economic Cluster, has officially assigned Prof. Dr. Ripu Ranjan Sinha as the lead of the delegation team for the South Sudan Green and Industrial Revolution 2030 initiative.
This flagship project, launched by H.E. Igga in June 2019 in Lucknow, India, aims to drive economic diversification, green industrialization, and infrastructure synergies aligned with UNSDG-2030.
Initiative Overview
The South Sudan Green and Industrial Revolution 2030 rests on two pillars: sustainable green practices and industrial growth to transform South Sudan’s resource-rich economy. Key focuses include leveraging abundant fertile land, hydropower potential (up to 3,000 MW on the White Nile), renewable energy, and mineral resources while addressing challenges like oil dependency, post-conflict reconstruction, and agricultural vulnerabilities. Under H.E. Igga’s vision, the project promotes certified investments, youth skilling, and regional integration for long-term prosperity.
Prof. Sinha’s Strategic Role
Prof. Dr. Ripu Ranjan Sinha, Founder of the Council for Sustainable Peace and Development and DG of the Asia Africa Development Council, brings proven expertise from his SDG lecture series on Indian education, innovation, and infrastructure. As delegation lead, he will spearhead India-South Sudan synergies, including the Invest South Sudan project, India-Africa Knowledge Consortium, and Red-Green Movement principles—fusing innovation (“Red”) with sustainability (“Green”). This builds on his global track record, from the Global DigiSports Conference 2019 inaugural address to promoting Viksit Bharat@2047 models adaptable for South Sudan.
Expected Outcomes and Partnerships
The delegation will prioritize:
- Green Infrastructure: Renewable energy hubs and climate-resilient agriculture.
- Industrial Hubs: MSME formalization, PLI-inspired manufacturing, and export clusters.
- Youth Empowerment: Skilling programs modeled on Skill India (500M trainees) and Chhattisgarh’s livelihood colleges (1.6L trained).
- Investment Mobilization: Targeting USD 1B in impact capital via public-private partnerships and CSR.
H.E. Igga’s Wani Igga Foundation complements these efforts with youth training and sustainable agriculture, urging partners for tools to boost food security. Together, this positions South Sudan for a $2T-aligned growth trajectory by 2030.
