“SDG-Impact on Indian Education, Innovation, Infrastructure, and Industrial Development”

Prof. Dr. Ripu Ranjan Sinha, Founder of the Council for Sustainable Peace and Development and DG of the Asia Africa Development Council, delivered a compelling lecture on the “SDG-Impact on Indian Education, Innovation, Infrastructure, and Industrial Development” at the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), University of Rajasthan, on January 7, 2026.

Lecture Highlights

The presentation aligned innovation and peace with UNSDG-2030 and India’s Viksit Bharat@2047 Vision, covering SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Innovation, Infrastructure, Industry), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Key topics included the National Education Policy 2020’s multidisciplinary approach, NEP’s integration of vocational training, and infrastructure achievements like 100% household electrification under the Saubhagya Scheme. It also addressed challenges such as youth unemployment at 15.3% in June 2025, skills mismatches, and the need for industry-academia linkages.

Key Initiatives and Progress

India’s progress features a 66 score on the 4th India SDG Index, 4th global rank in renewable capacity growth, and 112,000 startups with over 100 unicorns. Programs like Skill India Mission targeting 500 million trainees, Startup India, and PLI schemes are projected to create 60 lakh jobs. State successes, such as Kerala’s digital literacy and Chhattisgarh’s livelihood colleges training 1.6 lakh youth, demonstrate scalable models.

Recommendations and Call to Action

The lecture urged aligning curricula with digital-green skills, boosting R&D investment from 0.7% of GDP, formalizing the informal sector, and scaling green infrastructure. It emphasized the “Red-Green Movement” philosophy—innovation (Red) fused with sustainability (Green)—to achieve a $30 trillion economy by 2047.
